Landscaping Estimating Services for Planting, Irrigation & Hardscape

Landscape plans pack a lot into a few sheets: a plant schedule with dozens of species in different sizes, planting beds that need soil and mulch at specified depths, turf areas, an irrigation layout with zones and heads, and hardscape details. Each part is priced differently, and each has its own way of going wrong.

Our landscaping estimating services take off planting, turf, soils, irrigation, and landscape hardscape from your landscape and irrigation plans, priced for your project's location.

Planting

Plants are counted by symbol from the planting plan and checked against the plant schedule:

Trees

by species and size: caliper for deciduous trees, height for evergreens

Shrubs

by species and container size

Perennials, grasses, and groundcover

by container size and spacing

Staking, guying, and root barriers

where detailed

Size drives price. Larger caliper or container sizes cost noticeably more for the same species, and specimen-quality or field-grown requirements add more. We price the exact size and quality specified.

Where groundcover is shown as a hatched area with spacing, we calculate plant quantities from the area and spacing pattern.

Turf and Groundcover

  • Sod by area and type
  • Seed and hydroseed by area, with mix
  • Erosion control blankets on slopes
  • Artificial turf, when specified

Soils, Amendments & Mulch

Soil quantities are often underestimated:

Topsoil

spread depth across lawn and bed areas, converted to cubic yards

Planting mix and amendments

for beds and tree pits, per the specification

Mulch

bed area × specified depth

Fine grading

preparing beds and lawn areas

Imported soil is priced by delivered cubic yard. Large-volume topsoil may overlap with sitework scope; we note the split. Sitework estimating →

Irrigation

Zones

and controller stations

Spray heads, rotors, and bubblers

by type and count

Drip irrigation

tubing, emitters, and zone kits

Lateral lines

by size, measured from the layout

Mainline

by size, plus isolation valves

Control valves

and valve boxes

Backflow preventer, meter connection, and point of connection

Controller, rain/soil sensors, and wiring

Sleeves

under paving

Landscape Hardscape

  • Pavers and permeable pavers, with base and bedding
  • Segmental retaining walls and seat walls
  • Landscape edging
  • Decorative stone and boulders
  • Site furnishings: benches, planters, bike racks, if in scope
  • Landscape lighting, if specified (electrical connections by others)

Concrete paving, curbs, and parking lots are part of sitework. Sitework estimating →

Maintenance and Warranty Periods

Landscape specifications often require:

  • A maintenance or establishment period after installation (watering, mowing, weeding, fertilizing)
  • A plant warranty with replacement of dead material
  • Final acceptance inspections

These carry real cost and are easy to leave out. We price them as separate lines when specified.
